Hunger education and networking grants are one of the ways ELCA World Hunger monitors assemblies, synods, organizations, partners, and local teams across the United States and the Caribbean. We know that learning about the root causes of hunger and effective responses is key to stopping hunger locally and globally. That’s why we’re excited to share that our ELCA World Grants for Hunger Education and Networking app is now open!

ELCA World Hunger Education and Networking Grants support this work

  • forms and engages ELCA congregations, groups and / or synods;
  • provides leadership development for people who are passionate about fighting hunger;
  • builds relations at the local, regional and national levels; i
  • empowers ELCA members and neighbors to work toward a just world where everyone feeds.

Previous grant winners included:

  • bicycle rides throughout the Synod to promote hunger awareness;
  • Youth and adult learning service events;
  • online and personal workshops;
  • community organizing training;
  • creating new resources to help participants learn about hunger; i
  • local research projects that help others learn more about hunger, health and housing in their community.

The work of grant beneficiaries in the past has focused on a wide range of areas, including climate change and sustainability, housing security, racial justice, workers’ justice, reducing food waste and economic justice.

To qualify for the ELCA World Scholarship for Hunger Education and Networking, proposals must be:

  • received through ELCA’s online Grantmaker portal;
  • submitted by a tax-exempt organization 501 (c) 3;
  • focused on education, engagement and networking towards a just world in which everyone eats; i
  • in line with the values ​​and priorities of ELCA World Hunger (https://elca.org/domestichungergrants).
