[Church of England] Traditionally, bells marked significant moments, both during celebrations, such as victory in war, and as a warning of impending danger, such as invasion.
Numerous churches of the Church of England will be among those joining the Ring Out for Climate initiative at 6pm for 30 minutes on Saturday 30 October. The United Nations Conference on Climate Change is being held in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12.
The idea was conceived by Edward Gilde, an adventurer and ecologist, who is a member of St. Mary’s Church in Saffron Walden, Essex, as a vivid warning of the dangers of climate emergencies.
